One machine you should definitely consider, in my opinion, is the Teknetics T2 SE. I've had the CTX, an MXT Pro, a Spectra V3, an ETRAC, AT- Gold, and a GPX 4800. Of all the VLF machines, the T2 is the deepest and has the fastest response in my experience. I'm a woods/field relic hunter and use the machine in all metal mode 99% of the time.

The ATP is ok in the wet sand and surf, but i'd go with a Tesoro pi machine or another good saltwater machine if this is your primary hunting environment. The ATP is very chattery even with a good ground balance. It does lose depth as you can't raise the sens too high or it gets very unstable.

I tried my Tejon in wet salt sand in Mexico, reducing gain to 5-6 eliminated the falsing but performance was poor for the machine as ground balance wouldn't set. It worked fine in dry sand. 5-6" is nothing for the Vac, I got similar depth with the Tejon in wet salt but don't expect to hit the small stuff at that depth.

BUT if its a Sand Sifter then it actually picks up the sand from 1 inch to 6 inches, runs it over a stainless steel mesh sifting everything dime size and up and dumping it into a hopper and the deeper targets remain. That leaves you with the multi frequency machines or pulse induction detectors. PI machines do not discriminate much so you probably will like the multi frequency machines more.
