It didn't work as well as we all hoped to move soil for something like a 15' drop. We ended up dumping into each others' wheel barrows down each teir. Maybe you could try a 6" or larger PVC pipe? Might be $100-150 in pipe. Make a funnel that directs the sand into the narrow pipe. Use water to motivate the sand if it gets stuck perhaps.
